AAR is nongovernmental and nonprofit organization. It was established in 2011 on the initiative of former experts engaged in accreditation procedures for the National Accreditation Center. The agency receives no funding from the state. Its funding derives entirely from the income received through the payments made by institutions, organisations and various QA projects.
IAAR is a nonprofit organisation that has a legal personality and was created to improve the competitiveness of both higher education institutions as well as technical and professional organisations of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the national and international levels. This is done by conducting institutional and programme accreditation procedures and academic ratings (rankings). It also carries out consultancy and support work to assist institutions in the development of their internal quality assurance and prepare them for accreditation. The agency has systematic follow-up procedures (post accreditation monitoring) to monitor and support institutional development after accreditation.
